How do I list an item in Books?

To list an item in Books just follow these simple steps:

1. click Sell Your Stuff at the top of any page.
2. Find the UPC or ISBN number of the item you want to sell. Typically, the UPC or ISBN is found above or below the barcode on the item.
   
   Here are some examples to help you find the right ISBN or UPC number:
   • For books, enter the ISBN, not the UPC.
   • Some ISBNs end with an X; make sure you enter it as part of the ISBN.
   • While books may have more than one UPC-like barcode, each book has a single ISBN.
   • For all other items, enter the UPC, and not the ISBN. Many movies, CDs, and video games have ISBNs. You should ignore these.
   • When entering UPCs, make sure you include any smaller numerals that appear to the left or right of the main barcode numerals.
   
   
3. Type the UPC or ISBN number in the entry box, select a quality rating for the item, and any enter comments you have about the item (e.g. "Cover torn, stains on the back", etc.) and click the continue button. We do not allow the addition of email addresses, links to other web sites or any other promotional endorsements in the Comments field. If the item you are listing varies slightly from the description in our catalog, you must state this here.
4. Next, select a price for the item. Xumbay.com will recommend a price based on the quality of the item. You can set any price you wish for your item. However, it is important to remember that the lower the price, the more likely it is to sell. Click the "Add Item" button and you're in business!

Once you list an item, Xumbay.com provides the cover art, review, and product information from its extensive database. So to list your items you simply enter the item's UPC or ISBN number and Xumbay.com takes care of the rest. Piece of cake, huh?

Rating the quality of an item is extremely important. Xumbay.com buyers will be making purchase decisions based on quality ratings. After the sale, they will be rating their experience with each seller based in part on the accuracy of the quality ratings. Here are the guidelines for rating item quality:   Item Quality - Books & Video Games

Books

Brand New - New, unread, unused and in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages.

Like New - Shiny, undamaged cover, dust jacket included for hard covers, no missing pages, all pages undamaged (no creases or tears), no underlining/highlighting of text, no damage to binding, no writing in margins (Could easily be mistaken for brand new)

Very Good - Doesn't look brand new but has no easily noticeable damage to the cover, dust jacket included for hard covers, no missing pages, all pages undamaged (no creases or tears), no underlining/highlighting of text, no writing in margins, very minimal identifying marks inside cover, very minimal wear and tear (You would give it to a good friend as a gift)

Good - Very minimal damage to the cover (no holes or tears, only minimal scuff marks), dust jacket not necessarily included, minimal wear to binding, majority of pages undamaged (minimal creases or tears), minimal pencil underlining of text, no highlighting of text, no writing in margins, no missing pages (You would use it yourself, but wouldn't necessarily give it as a gift)

Acceptable - Some damage to the cover but integrity still intact, binding slightly damaged but integrity still intact, possible writing in margins, possible underlining and highlighting of text, no missing pages (Item beaten up a bit but it works)

Unacceptable - We won't sell it! Major damage (holes and/or tears) to a significant number of pages and/or to cover, missing or stained pages, book cover is missing, book is not readable.

Video Games

Brand New - A brand new, unused, unopened & undamaged video game in perfect condition. There are no holes or cuts in the barcode or jewel case. The original packaging and all materials are included and in brand new condition.

Like New - Item still in shrink wrap or looks as if it was just taken out of shrink wrap, no wear and tear, all facets of product are intact.

Very Good - No damage at all to jewel case or item cover (no scuff marks, no scratching, no cracks or holes), cover art and liner notes included, video game instructions and box included, teeth of disk holder undamaged, minimal wear and tear to exterior of item.

Good - Minor damage to jewel case (scuffs or cracks) or item cover (scuff marks, scratching, or cracks), video game instructions included.

Acceptable - Tear or hole in box, video game instructions and box not included.

Unacceptable - We will not sell it.

Item Quality - Textbooks

Textbooks

Brand New - New, unread, unused and in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. No highlighting or writing on any pages or the cover.

Like New - Shiny, undamaged cover, all pages undamaged (no creased, torn, or missing pages), no writing/highlighting, no damage to binding (is or could easily be mistaken for brand new).

Very Good - Doesn't look brand new but has no easily noticeable damage to the cover, all pages undamaged (no creased, torn, or missing pages), minimal underlining/highlighting of text, minimal identifying marks in margins or inside cover, very minimal wear and tear.

Good - Very minimal damage to the cover such as scuff marks or slightly bent corners, minimal wear to binding, majority of pages undamaged (minimal creases or tears), some pencil writing or highlighting of text (on less than 10% of the book's pages), no missing pages (you would use it yourself, but wouldn't necessarily give it as a gift).

Acceptable - Some damage to the cover such as scuff marks, stickers, or bent corners, some wear to binding (but integrity still intact), some pencil writing or highlighting of text (on less than 20% of the book's pages), no missing pages (book is beaten up a bit, but it works).

Tattered and Torn - We won't sell it! Major damage (holes and/or tears) to a significant number of pages and/or to the cover, missing or stained pages, excessive highlighting, damage from water or other liquids, binding is broken, book cover is missing, book is not readable.

How do I determine the best price for my items?

Please note that the minimum price you can list an item for is 75 cents. In an effort to help you price your product competitively, we will provide you with a suggested selling price if we have retail prices available. The suggested selling price for an item is calculated as a percentage of the best on-line retail price for a new copy of the item and depends upon the quality of the item. The pricing table we use is as follows:

Condition	Suggested Price (percentage of best on-line retail price)
Like New	50%
Very Good	45%
Good	40%
Acceptable	35%

For example, we suggest that you sell an acceptable quality book with a list price of $20 and a best on-line retail price of $10 for $3.50.

What are ISBN and UPC numbers?

ISBN (International Standard Book Number) and UPC (Universal Product Code) numbers are product numbers that are used to help identify a specific product. Xumbay.com uses ISBN numbers as another way for you to find or list an item in our Books category. It is a more precise way for you to find or list an item since each book has a unique ISBN assigned to it.

UPC codes are used for a variety of retail products. Like an ISBN, each retail product has a unique UPC code assigned to it.
