General Shipping Policy

Except where noted below, sellers may set their own shipping costs at the time of item listing.

When Xumbay.com sends the seller an order notification, the desired shipping method will be included in that notification. Sellers must confirm an order within 2 business days of order notification. Upon confirmation, the seller is expected to ship the order to the buyer within 1 business day.

For both sellers' and buyers' protection in the event of order problems, we highly recommend that sellers insure and track shipments. Xumbay.com reserves the right to suspend the privileges of any member we feel may be acting in a fraudulent manner.

Xumbay.com requires that all sellers ship the item within 24 hours of confirming the order. Xumbay.com does allow, in very rare cases, an item such as custom-built computer to be shipped up to 7 days after the order was confirmed. Any exception to the 24-hour shipping requirement must be approved by Xumbay.com prior to listing, and must be stated in the seller notes of the offering.

Since sellers are dependent on the United States Postal Service (USPS) for the majority of shipping on our site, Xumbay.com observes any holidays recognized by the USPS. 

Xumbay.com does not consider any of the holidays recognized by the USPS as part of the 48 hours required for a seller to confirm an order. Weekends are also not considered part of the required 48 hour confirmation period.

The standard shipping method for Books is US Postal Service Media Mail.

Shipping upgrades to Expedited methods are available for an additional shipping charge. Buyers should be aware that offering Expedited Shipping Methods is optional for sellers and therefore may not be available on all items.

Shipping Fees are charged on a per item basis and vary according to the type of product being purchased. The following chart displays costs by type of product:

* Items shipped via Media Mail should arrive in 4-12 days from the time of shipping. In some rare instances, Media Mail shipments can take as long as 30 days to arrive.

**Items shipped with an Expedited Shipping method (including: USPS Priority, Fed Ex Home Delivery, UPS Ground, Airborne Express Ground Delivery) should arrive in 2-8 days. In some instances, this Expedited Shipping method may take as long as 12 days.

All sellers listing in Xumbay.com's other product categories set their own shipping costs and have the option to choose from a variety of shipping methods. These methods include: First Class, Priority Mail, Ground, 2-day and Overnight. Sellers do not have to support all methods; therefore some methods may not be available at time of purchase.

The buyer agrees to pay the shipping and handling costs for items purchased according to the rates set by each individual seller.

The buyer agrees to pay additional shipping and handling costs for items purchased should the item have to be shipped an additional time due to an error in the shipping address listed at Xumbay.com provided by the buyer. This charge may also occur if additional shipping is required because the package was either refused or undeliverable to the listed address. This charge shall be the same amount as the shipping and handling cost incurred for the first shipping.
